Gareos König is the late father of the current Gabranth queen Blansa King. He was a famous and respected warrior in his day. He was the leader of the Three Warriors and the right-hand man of the former king Lendock.
At that time they were at war with the Humas and the town of Egma was attacked and destroyed. They raced to the town but only a single family was still alive. The parents died protecting their children but the kids were saved.
Out of respect for the parent's sacrifice, Gareos adopted the two children, although it took Blansa time to adjust to having siblings. He brought the children to the King Tree where they met Leowald and the four kids grew up as very close friends.
Kokurou trained hard to repay the kindness Gareos showed him. He and Leowald served with great distinction in the war. Nerei was a brilliant and beautiful girl with a bright future and both girls were aiming to be Leowald's wife.
A horrible epidemic truck the capital and was claiming many lives. A cure was found but was in short supply. They still had it almost eradicated when both Blansa and Nerei caught the illness at the same time. They only had enough left to treat one of the girl.
It would be heartless decision to choose to save only one, so Gareos left the front lines and volunteered to go alone to retrieve more of the rare key ingredient. With the nation still at war it was quite a dangerous task.
Gareos finally made it back, battered and bruised but it took far longer than anyone expected. He arrived during Nerei's funeral, he was too late. Kokurou, driven mad by grief, murdered Gaeros in cold blood on the spot and began a killing spree before escaping.
The name König became associated with something shameful and became a taboo subject. Even Gareos' own grandchildren were not told the truth about his death until Kokurou resurfaced years later.
