Nerei König was born in a village near the border with the Humas Continent. When she was a child her village was attacked and destroyed by the Humas. Her parents died protecting her and her younger brother Kokurou. By the time help arrived only the two children were able to be saved.
They were adopted by the person who saved them Gareos König, who was the leader of the Three Warriors under King Lendock, Gareos had a daughter of his own named Blansa. It took them a while to adjust to being siblings but they became close. they also formed a close bond with prince Leowald.
As the children grew up Nerei became a brilliant and beautiful girl who future seemed very bright. It is known that both she and Blansa were aiming to become Leowald's wife. Meanwhile both of the boys became great warriors and served in the war.
A horrible epidemic struck in Pasion, and while Yuhito found a cure, it was in short supply. They had just enough to get in under control. Unfortunately both Nerei and Blansa contracted the deadly illness at the same time and there was only one dose of the cure left.
There was still a war going on so a large scale search party was not possible. So Gareos volunteered to leave the front lines to undertake the dangerous search for the rare ingredient on his own. But the journey took far longer than expected and they began to lose hope he would ever return.
Kokurou worked tirelessly to care for his ailing sisters until the exhaustion and the stress of watching them deteriorate caused him to snap. He demanded that the cure should be given to his flesh and blood sister, whose condition was worse. He became violent and had to be locked up.
Everyone else felt it was morally wrong to choose between them as they couldn't be sure more of the cure would arrive in time. Sadly they ran out of time before Gareos returned and Nerei passed away. It is known that both Leowald and Blansa still miss her dearly.
